I didn’t actually count I just looked back on my diary and made a quick guess.

Oscar my 18 year old is at boarding school and only comes home at weekends and holidays, but he’s keen to be on skis nearly every day that he’s home.

Link age 5 has more days than Ocean age 3 because Link does cross country and alpine skiing at his nursery school. Their days include snowboarding too.

Oona has had 3 days a week at home and we skied whenever the weather was comfortable for her.

Next winter I’m planning for them all to have more days on skis 🤞🏼

Toddler ski mitten tips

- Zip on the side helps you open up the mitt to get little thumbs in the correct position.

- Make sure they are the right size, try them on in the shop. If you can buy a spare pair for if one pair gets wet and another pair in the next size up so you’re ready for their next growth spurt.

- Don’t let them take the mittens off unless your inside or they get wet inside and become uncomfortable and tricky to get back on.

- Attach mittens to ski jacket using an elastic that goes through their sleeves or a clip on attachment to avoid loosing them.

- For very young skiers sometimes ski mittens are just more faff than they are worth. When Oona was little she had soft simple baby mittens and a ski suit with foldable hand cuffs.

- Consider putting mittens on first and then ski jacket to see if this is easier for you or not. Sometimes it is and can keep hands dryer and warmer.

I really love the @hestragloves toddler zip mits and have used these for all my own toddlers. However there are cheaper versions available now too like from @decathlon and other brands.

Kids who start very young might not remember very

Kids who start very young might not remember very much about learning to ski, to them it’s as natural as learning to walk. But they will remember that they were supported well, kept safe, they were happy doing it and that the person helping them had a happy vibe and big smile.

I was 5 when I learnt to ski and I remember lots of random things but the main thing I remember is that I liked my ski teacher and I felt happy and safe to be left with her each day.

Huge well done to the ski daddy who sent me this video, this takes a lot of love and planning to create a beautiful moment like this! Her smile! My heart!

I just want to include everyone is this amazing sport of skiing whether your young, old, less abled, whatever body size, whatever your confidence level, whatever your fitness level I really believe skiing is for you too.

I was once a ski teacher for a disabled ski school for 2 years and found it incredible to take people out of their wheelchairs and onto the freedom of a sit ski. I don’t have the equipment myself to continue this now but I have so much experience in how to get the youngest skiers having fun with skiing that I really want to share with the world.

I have big plans to help even more young families next winter so please keep watching this nutty ski Mumma!

2 year old Bora has a mountain dog who loves to sk

2 year old Bora has a mountain dog who loves to ski tour with his Daddy in Turkey. He came to France to ski with me for the first time. But he didn’t want to wear his ski helmet… until he got a helmet cover that looked just like his own mountain dog Gia.

Then while we were skiing together my friend comes to say hi with her Dog Talia who is just like Gia (and his ski helmet) a beautiful moment during his first introduction to skiing.

Breaking my heart to think that there’s only a h

Breaking my heart to think that there’s only a handful of opportunities to ski with my daughter while she’s just 1.5 years old left this winter.

We have 3 more weeks of skiing left and the next time we will ski together she will be just 2 years old and becoming more independent on her skis.

After the ski season ends we move 12 hours west across France to live by the beach on the west coast. We love to surf, SUP, bike and skateboard.

The first steps to starting toddler skiing before

The first steps to starting toddler skiing before you even start sliding
1️⃣ Being comfortable in the ski environment
2️⃣ Being comfortable with ski teacher
3️⃣ Being comfortable with ski equiptment

We can help them to be familiar with the SKI ENVIRONMENT by playing in the snow, bringing toys, riding the magic carpet, taking a walk around, skiing with them in your arms (Slowly and with a helmet on them)

We can help them to be familiar with the SKI TEACHER by talking to them in advance about who they are, showing them photos and videos of them, being very friendly with the ski teacher yourself, let them see that you like the ski teacher (if it’s me feel free to give me a hug, I love hugs)

We can help them to be comfortable with SKI EQUIPMENT by introducing the equiptment early at home, getting them used to wearing the gloves, goggles, helmet, walking in the boots and stepping in the skis. As best as you can make sure you have them the best quality, most comfortable and best fitting clothing and equiptment.

And most importantly with all of this you GO AT THEIR PACE do not ever push them of force them to do anything that they are not yet comfortable with and be prepared that this takes time for some toddlers.

It’s NOT about teaching them to ski, it’s about showing them how fun skiing is!
